I'm starting to feel sorry for Robert Knepper, as thanks to play the truly odious T-bag in Prison Break, he's now only allowed to play unplesant characters. The typecasting may be keeping food on his table, but it must also be a tad annoying for him, knowing that the moment anyone looks at him, all anyone can see is a sadistic criminal.
However there's a possibility he'll get to do something else with his latest role, although with only limited character info, there's still a good chance he'll be playing a complete bastard. THR reports that he's signed on star in R.I.P.D., which has just started shooting. Ryan Reynolds takes the lead as a newcomer to the Rest in Peace Department, which is comprised of slain police officers who are tasked with bringing unwilling souls into the afterlife. He agrees to 100 years service in exchange for a chance to find the person who killed him. Jeff Bridges plays Ryan Reynolds' partner, a longtime R.I.P.D. officer.
Knepper meanwhile will portray one of the spirits known as "deados," who hang around and bother the living. While Kevin Bacon is onboard as a villain, we'd put money on Knepper also being involved in nefarious goings on.
Robert Schwentke is directing, with shooting taking place now in Boston.
