A few weeks ago it was announced that Anton Yelchin was set to star as the title character in Odd Thomas, based on the Dean Koontz novel of the same name. Now casting is focused on finding the female lead, with Variety reporting that Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings, Lily Collins, Portia Doubleday, and Addison Timlin are on the shortlist to portray Stormy Llewellyn, Thomas' girlfriend.
The story centres on Anton Yelchin's Thomas, a short-order cook who has the strange ability to see the dead. While he cannot communicate with the dead, he nevertheless tries to help them with their problems. Things take a bizarre turn when Thomas meets a shady stranger who has ties to evil supernatural forces.
Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, GI Joe) will direct from his own script, with the possibility of the whole thing turning into a franchise, as their are four novels in Koontz's series. Shooting is due to begin in May.
