Despite a slew of new films opening in the US, hoping to soak up audiences during the five day Thanksgiving weekend, Harry Potter beat them all, topping the box office $76.2 million from Wednesday to Sunday to take its total to over $220 million in just 10 days. That's the biggest 10-day haul of any Potter yet.
However Disney, which launched Tangled last Wednesday, probably won't be crying too much, as the CG animated fairytale took a not too shoddy $69 million. Despite not topping the chart, it was nevertheless the second biggest Thanksgiving opening in history (behind Toy Story 2) and Disney's biggest non-Pixar animated opening ever.
However while several other movie opened, none made a huge impression on the box office. The Cher and Christina Aquilera musical, Burlesque, only managed the number 4 spot, taking an okay but not stellar $17.1 million, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway's Love and Other Drugs placed sixth with $14 million. The Rock's new movie, Faster, did even worse, taking $12.2 million for a seventh spot finish.
Take a look below for the US boc office top 10 for the 5-day Thanksgiving weekend, 24th-28th November 2010.
