Seann William Scott Is A Goon

And so is Jay Baruchel

It seems that Seann William Scott really doesn't want to wait to make an ice hockey movie, as while a few months ago he was announced as the star of Kevin Smith's Hit Somebody, not that that film has been delayed (while Smith makes Red State first), Scott has jumped on Goon.

The actor has been rumoured for the film for a few weeks (and Smith has grumbled a bit about his star going off to another ice hockey flick), and now THR confirms the news, and adds that Jay Baruchel, Alison Pill and Marc-Andre Grondin will also star.

Baruchel wrote the script with Evan Goldberg, inspired by the book 'Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey' by Doug Smith and Adam Frattasio. THR adds that the film is about 'Doug Glatt, a bouncer (Scott) who has been touched by the fist of God. Upon discovering both his right hook and skates, he joins a downtrodden hockey team and inspires them into new heights. Baruchel is Glatt's best friend. Pill plays the female lead role, while Grondin is a French-Canadian star hockey player.'

It's unlikely Scott will want to make two Hockey comedies close together, so we'll have to wait and see who kevin Smith replaces him with.
