For a while now, there have been rumours floating around that Tina Fey and Meryl Streep were keen to do a comedy together called Mommy & Me, with Stanley Tucci directing. Well, not only have those rumours been confirmed, but THR also says that the picture has just landed a deal at Sony, which also made the Streep last acting collaboration with Tucci, Julie and Julia.
Not much is known about the film, other than that it will spotlight the thorny and funny sides of mother-daughter relationships. Whether Tucci will appear in the movie is unclear, and the same can be said of Stve Buscemi, who's one of the producers.
A rather sporadic director, this will be Tucci's fifth film since his debut with Big Night in 1996. There's little doubt though, that a film starring Streep and Fey will be his highest profile behind-the-camera gig yet. There's no news yet though on when it might go into production.
