Transformer 2 Tops UK Box Office Again

The UK weekend box office results are in and Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen has come out on top again. Despite falling more than 50% from the previous weekend, the lack of major new releases allowed the film to keep it grip on the box office, taking more than double what any other movie made over the weekend. The £4.3 million weekend take is nevertheless an impressive feat, proving the movie is going to have more legs at the box office than some suspected.

The Hangover hung on at number 2, making it one of the rare comedies to gross more than £10,0000 in the UK. The highest new entry only made it to number three, with Year One not even hitting a million pounds on its opening weekend, although it did make about the same as other Jack Black comedies such as The Pick Of Destiny and Nacho Libre. Also new on the chart this week is My Sister's Keeper at number four, Blood: The Last Vampire at seven, New York at nine and Sushine Cleaning at 10.

Although not unprecendented, New York makes an interesting addition to the list, becoming one the the few Bollywood films to hit the overall UK top 10. While Bollywood films only rarely make it onto the list, they're becoming an increasingly important part of the UK cinemas scene, taking an ever increasing slice of the box office pie.
