The day before the Oscars is always the time for film's least desired awards, The Golden Raspberries, aka The Razzies, which 'celebrate' the worst in film (or as they put it, the awards are 'Dis-Honors for Cinematic Dreck') just before Hollywood gets together to congratulate itself with the Academy Awards.
Although quite often one film sweeps most of the Razzie categories, this year the voters spread the dishonour across six films, although there's little doubt they liked Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen the least, which scored Worst Film Of 2009, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay. Although it was a massive hit, that meant little to Razzies, and to be honest they've got a point.
However there was also plenty of dislike spared for the acting in All About Steve, which won Worst Actress and Worst Screen Couple. That means the first part of what could be the year's most interesting double whammy is now in place. Sandra Bullock has picked up the Golden Raspberry for All About Steve, and if she now wins the Best Actress Oscar for The Blind Side at the Oscars, she'll become the only person ever to get the top awards for both the best and worst of film in the same year. If nothing else, it just goes to show how random her film choices are.
This being the 30th Annual Razzies, they also gave out some 'celebratory' worst of the decade awards. Battlefield Earth was named the Worst Film of the Noughties, while in the acting categories, Eddie Murphy was Worst Actor, and the rather easy target of Paris HIlton picked up Worst Actress.
