At the moment there's no confirmation, but Chud is reporting they've heard rumours that Fox is on the verge of signing Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of Zombieland, to take on the screeplay for the planned Deadpool spin-off movie. Although Chud couldn't get a definite 'yes it's happening' from their sources, they expect it to be announced within days.
If so it's good news, as while the depiction of Deadpool in Wolverine upset a lot of the character's fans, bringing in the Zombieland duo suggests Fox is looking to create a script featuring the sort of wisecracking humour the character is famed for. As Ryan Reynolds has already promised the upcoming film will include Deadpool breaking the fourth wall and talking directly to the audience, as he does in the comics, it's already shaping up to be a far better version of the character than in this year's X-Men Origins movie.
In fact most things would be better than Wolverine, so let's hope that if this rumour turns out to be true, Reese and Wernick can bring some Zombieland magic to the Deadpool movie.
