Sometimes you just can't keep actors quiet. During an interview with MTV, Natalie Portman, who's been lined up to play Jane Foster, Thor's (or at least his human alter-ego, Donald Blake's) love interest in the upcoming Marvel comic adaptation, let it slip that, "Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that."
It was the first anyone had heard about this, and while The Hollywood Reporter was quick to confirm the news that Nick and Norah star Dennings would indeed be in Thor, it leaves a big question mark over exactly who the actress will play, particularly as most of the main female roles have already been cast, including Portman as Foster and Jamie Alexander as Asgardian.warrior Sif.
However the folks over at HeyUGuys did some research into the casting call that went out for the movie in October, and they reckon they've worked out who Dennings will be playing, as there's one uncast role on the list that seems perfect for Kat:
“[MARCY LEWIS] (20) Is a college student. Aloof, jaded beyond her years, she thought her internship with scientist Kate Spelling would be an easy 6 college credits. However, she’s been stuck for months in this small New Mexico town and relegated to a wide range of unglamorous activities. Kate has been particularly hard on Marcy, making it her personal project to see that Marcy lives up to her potential. Marcy deals with her situation both by using subtle irony and by being an overt wiseass.”
Although there's no official word that this is the role Dennings will be playing, it certainly make a lot of sense, and we'd be willing to bet this is what she'll be doing in the film.
