So we can cover as many films as possible, we thought we'd give you these quick updates on some of today's smaller film announcements...
Reports are coming in that at least one of the original members of the 1980s A-Team will have a cameo in the upcoming big screen version, which stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlton Copley, Quinton Jackson and Jessica Biel. The original Howling Mad Murdock, Dwight Schultz, is set to appear in the movie. While there are rumours other members of the A-Team may also cameo (although obviously not the deceased George Peppard), so far Schultz is the only one confirmed. (Source: dwightschultzfansite)
Belgian actress Cecile de France, best known for Switchblade Romance, has been cast alongside Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood's supernatural drama, Hereafter. The film, written by Peter Morgan (The Queen), tells the story of three people who are touched by death in different ways. Hereafter started filming last month, with de France playing a French journalist who has a near-death experience. (Source: Variety)
Yesterday in Daily Shorts, we reported that Winona Ryder, Barbara Hershey and Vincent Cassel were rumoured to have joined the cast of Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. That news has now been confirmed, as has the fact that Fox Searchlight is in final negotiations to co-finance and distribute the movie. Black Swan is about a young dancer at the New York City Ballet (Natalie Portman) who may or may not be having delusions about a rival dancer (Mila Kunis). FIlming is due to start before the end of the year. (Source: THR)
Dolph Lundgren may be making an appearance in the upcoming Conan The Barabarian reboot. He's told MTV that, "I've talked to the producers about doing something for Conan." However it's too early to say whether there will indeed be a role for him in the film. Indeedn, Dolph doesn't expect to hear about it himself until sometime next year. (Source: MTV)
Up director Pete Docter is already working on his next movie, but he won't saying what it is. Docter told New York Magazine that, “I’m mostly focused on the next film that I have in development already... I’ve only been on this for like a couple weeks.” When asked if it would be the rumoured Monster's Inc 2, he replied, "I’m not working on… I’m working on something else, but I cannot announce what it is.” (Source: New York Magazine)
After winning the Trailblazer Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival for his horror movie Salvage, director Lawrence Gough has set work on his next movie, Drought. The apocalyptic tale sees the world in a state of emergency, with modern infrastuctures having collapsed. Amidst that a young couple head for London in a last-ditch attempt to secure the fresh water they need to save their daughter. Colin O'Donnell is writing the script, with filming due to start next summer. (Source: Screen International)
