Charlie St. Cloud Trailer

Zac Efron's latest bid to be a proper grown up movie star is Charlie St. Cloud, which this trailer shows will present him in a much more dramatic and emotional mode than we've seen before. It certainly has the potential to be powerful, but could also easily tip into the sacharine and overblown. Zac will play the title role, a young man who's so stricken by grief after being partially resposible for the death of his brother that he finds himself unable to move forward. He ends up getting a job as a caretaker in the cemetery his brother is buried in, which allows him to feel a special connection to his bro (his sibling even appears to him in ghostly form), but it's a bond that tested when Charlie falls in love. Directed by Burr Steers, the film is currently scheduled for release in the UK on October 8th.
