Jennifer Aniston is just one of the many super-talented actresses that have struggled to make that full transition from TV to film without having to play second fiddle in half-assed comedies. Though she’s undoubtedly made a pretty penny at the box office since TV’s Friends, Aniston’s career hasn’t quite delivered on the promise of The Good Girl, and like Tina Fey, Lauren Graham and Katherine Heigl, she continues to be overlooked for those really juicy roles.

The Bounty Hunter may well be Aniston’s lowest point yet. Looking puffy faced and a little dead inside, the star indifferently goes through the motions in this dire comedy from the director of Hitch, in which a bounty hunter (Butler) has the pleasure of bringing in his ex wife (Aniston) when she skips bail. Hi-jinks and hilarity ensue (and yes, we are being sarcastic) as the couple collide, bicker and battle for one-upmanship until (wouldn’t you know it) they remember why they fell in love in the first place.

Painfully unfunny and devoid of any chemistry between the two leads (why Butler has become the romantic lead of choice is utterly beyond me), this comedy clunker could well be the final nail in the coffin of Aniston’s career, unless her next comedy outing, The Switch, can work some kind of miracle.

Annoyingly, the drivel that is The Bounty Hunter gets some fine treatment on Blu-ray. The film may be awful, but the visuals are gorgeous, with distinct and vibrant colours that pop and a crystal clear clarity and sharpness throughout. The audio does an okay job considering the pedestrian nature of the film itself, with clean and clear music and perfectly audible dialogue.

The uninspired extras reflect the feature itself, boasting a few dull featurettes and a bunch of trailers.

Overall Verdict: It may look like chocolate, but make no mistake, this is complete shit.

Muser Avatar RE: The Bounty Hunter (Blu-ray)

Jennifer Anniston is a terrible actress. How she gets all these parts is a mystery. Gerrard Butler is also completely unsuitable for any romantic comedy. This must be the worst pairing ever. I hope this film tanks and Anniston and Butler go down with it never to resurface in terms of starring in movies. I wouldn't see this film even if I were paid to review it.

Anniston could never have been described as super-talented, she was always medicore, as were the rest of the actors that appeared in Friends, which itself was only ever worth watching because the scripts were actually very good - too good for the actors.

Katherine Heigl who also appeared with Butler in The Ugly Truth is also awful. 27 Dresses which also starred Heigl was also a dreadul film. There are many, many better rom-coms out there to watch.

You have to feel sorry for anyone that has been forced to watch this 'shit' as Mr Griffiths puts it. Still if Mr Griffiths will apparently take all the best films for himself to review he can only expect to come across a few turds from time to time.Perhaps he should let some other Movie Muser reviewers take a few titles to review themselves instead of hogging all the best material.
