A reboot of The Mummy franchise starring Tom Cruise always sounded a little odd, but it look like it’s happening, but the Mission: Impossible A-lister possibly being joined by Jake Johnson and Annabell Wallis, who are both in talks for the film.
Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are producing the film, and are also in charge of creating a series of Avengers-style interconnected movies, based around the stable of Universal monsters. Sophia Boutella is also onboard to play The Mummy herself. Wallis meanwhile will be the female lead, who is a scientist, but there’s no news on who Johnson will be.
Although Universal is keeping its cards close to its chest, it’s believed this reboot will be set in the modern day. It’s also promised that it will be a horror movie, although mixed with action, adventure and probably a PG-13 certificate. Expect it in cinemas June 2017.
