Disney really is determined to turn every animated property they have into a live-action movie, as just a couple of days after it was announced they’re making a live-action Mulan comes news that Winnie The Pooh is heading to the real world (well, kind of, as presumably he’ll be CG).
Alex Ross Perry as been set to oversee and shape the movie. While he is a writer and director (including the praised indie movie Listen Up Philip), it’s not clear if he’ll be filling both those job on the Winnie The Pooh film, or just one of them.
It will be slightly different to the Pooh animated tales and books though, as in this film Christopher Robin is all grown up and has left the 100 Acre Wood behind, and is now dealing with adult problems. However he finds himself journeying to the land of his youth and rediscovering all his old friends.
Winnie joins Disney increasingly long list of live action adaptations, with Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and Cinderella already released and the likes of The Jungle Book, Through The Looking Glass, Pete’s Dragon, Dumbo, Mulan and Beauty and the Beast in the works.
