Zac Efron is getting ready to let loose the beats, as Deadline reports that Emily Ratajkowski (best known for the Blurred Lines music video) and Efron have signed up for We Are Your Friends, which will be the directorial debut of Catfish: The TV Show’s Max Joseph.
The movie is ‘a coming-of age-drama about finding your voice. Its set in the worlds of electronic music and the Hollywood nightlife, where an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James who takes him under his wing.
‘Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James much younger girlfriend, Sophie. With Coles forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he knows hes destined for.’
The cast is also likely to include Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez and Alex Shaffer, who are currently in talk for the movie, although it’s not clear who they will play.
The movie will start shooting on August 18th in the San Fernando Valley.
