One of this winter’s most intriguing films is Exodus: Gods And Kings, which is a big gamble for both Fox and 20th Century Fox. They are hoping that with Gladiator director Ridley Scott directing and legions of religious folks who may be interested in film about Moses, it will be a hit. However historical epics of this sort are often tough sells.
Fox is now getting the ball rolling, as after some images arrived a few days ago, we now get a first trailer, which seems keen to sell us on the scale as well as the rivalry between Christian Bale’s Moses and Joel Edgerton’s Ramses.
As you would expect, the story follows Moses, an Israelite who grew up as part of the Egyptian royal household, but who goes up against the Pharaoh Ramses so that he can lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. Cue plagues, battles and at some point the Red Sea will need to be parted.
Exodus: Gods and Kings is due out in December.
