With her star having risen on the big screen following Bridesmaids, Kristen Wiig is now using that clout to step behind the camera to make her directorial debut with a new untitled comedy, according the New York Times.
The film will reunite her with her Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo, who will co-script the film with Wiig and also star.
Not much is known about the plot, but it’s believed to follow Wiig and Mumolo as two best friends who find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths.
The actresses/writers commented, “We’re very excited to be writing. We will be going into a cave for months to finish. An actual cave. We found one that’s nice and big. We’re putting a couch in there.”
Mumolo also wrote the script for director David O. Russell’s upcoming biopic Joy, and has also appeared in This Is 40, Afternoon Delight and has a recurring role in the sitcom About a Boy.
