Matthew Vaughn left X-Men behind partly so he could finally make his long-gestating adaptation of The Secret Service, based on Mark Millar’s comic The Secret Service.
Now it has a new name – Kingsman: The Secret Service – suggesting they’re already viewing it as a potential franchise, along with a poster, pics and the first trailer.
It’s essentially a particularly posh James Bond (in the form of Colin Firth) teaming up with someone much younger (newcomer Taron Egerton) and on a very different part of the social ladder, to take on an evil threat. And they’ve invited the likes of Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson along for the ride.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (“Kick-Ass, “X-Men: First Class), “Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agencys ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.’
The film’s due out this autumn.
