Steve Carell wants to get a little bit dramatic, as he’s got Warner Bros. to pick up the rights to David Menasche’s memoir, The Priority List: A Teacher’s Final Quest to Discover Life’s Greatest Lessons, which The Office star is set to produce and star in, according to Variety.
Menasche’s book chronicles his life as a Miami high school teacher, who was given a few months to live after being diagnosed with a deadly form of brain cancer. After several surgeries and chemo he managed to overcome the disease, but a seizure ended his teaching career in 2012.
He then took part in a cross-country journey to reconnect with former students from his teaching career, which resulted in him coming to terms with his illness and the effect it had on his life, while also learning to live fully in the present.
There’s no news on when it might shoot.
