Norman Reedus got a lot of new fans thanks to The Walking Dead. Now he’s keeping it in the zombie series family as he’s teaming with Walking Dead executive producer and comic book creator Robert Kirkman, for the sci-fi thriller Air, according to THR. Djimon Hounsou has also signed up for the movie.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions is in final talks to acquire the movie which is set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster. The film is set in an underground cryogenic facility that is one of the only habitable places left on Earth. Air follows two custodial workers (Reedus & Hounsou), who take care of the people who are in deep cryogenic sleep. They must maintain the fragile environment while trying to keep hold of their sanity.
Christian Cantamessa, who’s been the writer and/or lead designer on video games like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, is making his directorial debut, working from a script he co-wrote with Chris Pasetto. Robert Kirkman is producing alongside fellow The Walking Dead executive producer David Alpert, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Chris Ferguson.
