Last June it was revealed that Fox was developing a movie based on the Choose Your Own Adventure novels. Many people will remember them as books where you got to choose where the story would go by picking an option and turning to that page.
Many wondered how a film based on them would work, but Fox must feel they’ve found a way as they’ve signed We’re The Millers helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber to direct. Night at the Museum’s Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon are also in final negotiations to come up with the script, according to THR.
It’s now know how the movie will work, although Fox has rights to all the titles in the 1980s book series, so there’s plenty of material to work from. While they could potentially do a straight adaptation of one of the books, it’s more likely they’ll try to bring in the concept of choosing the direction the story will take (although presumably it’ll be the characters choosing not the audience).
There’s no news on when we might see the film.
