Shooting started a while ago on Stephen Frear’s biopic of Lance Armstrong, but that doesn’t mean the full cast has been announced, as it’s only now that it’s been announced, via Deadline, that Dustin Hoffman has signed on to star.
Ben Foster is set to play as Lance Armstrong, with Chris O’Dowd portraying the journalist who helped uncover the massive doping scandal that tarnished his seven Tour de France victories. Jesse Plemons, Guillaume Canet and Lee Pace also star in unspecified roles. It isn’t known who Hoffman is playing.
Stephen Frears is directing from a screenplay by John Hodge. Production is currently underway in Europe, but Dustin Hoffman won’t be on set until the shoot moves to the US for the final stages of production, so it probably won’t be a massive role.
