With several Peter Pan based prequels in the works at various studios, it seems Warner Bros. is trying to move fast on its film, Pan, in order to get to cinemas first. Just a few days ago, Hanna director Joe Wright signed onto helm Pan. That’s now followed by the news that Javier Bardem is in talks to play the lead villain, according to Deadline.
The movie will be an origin story for Peter Pan, based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale. Flipper remake writer Jason Fuchs is currently drafting the screenplay.
Javier Bardem will not play the iconic Captain Hook, but instead will personify Blackbeard. The story revolves around orphan boy Peter, who is taken for the first time to the magical world of Neverland, where he joins the natives, leading them in a rebellion against a group of evil pirates.
There’s no news on when it might shoot.
