Robert Pattinson has gone more for some unusual movies outside the Twilight franchise, such as Cosmopolis and Remember Me. Hes currently got another film with Cronenberg in the works now and one with Werner Herzog. Now he’s planning to add The Lost City of Z, starring alongside Robert Pattinson.
The film will be directed by James Gray, based on David Grann’s book about doomed Amazon explorer Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett. Cumberbatch is playing Fawcett, who nearly lost his life in the Amazon more than once. He then completely disappeared with his son whilst making a self-financed trip through the region. Screen Dailys print issue (via TheWrap) says that Pattinson is now on board. There’s no news on who he will play. Some are suggesting he’ll be the son, although he seems a little close in age to Cumberbatch for that.
Heres a few more details about the book: In 1925, Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of the most important discoveries in history. Thousands had died looking for it, leaving many scientists convinced that the Amazon was truly inimical to humankind. But Fawcett, whose daring expeditions helped inspire Conan Doyles The Lost World, had spent years building his scientific case. Captivating the imagination of millions around the globe, Fawcett embarked with his twenty-one-year-old son, determined to prove that this ancient civilizationwhich he dubbed “Zexisted. Then he and his expedition vanished.
