When it was announced they were making The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe, Walden Media said they wanted to shoot adaptations of all the Narnia books. However after disappointing box office for Prince Caspian, Disney dropped out as Walden’s partner.
For a while it seemed the dream had died, but then Fox stepped up to make Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. After that didn’t hit it particularly big it really seemed like it was the end for Narnia at the movie. However now it appear that Walden is no longer involved, but The Mark Gordon Company has signed up to develop a movie based on The Silver Chair, alongside The C.S. Lewis Company.
Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis stated, “I have a great deal of respect for Mark Gordons work and am confident that together we can bring the beauty and magical delight that Narnia engenders in the hearts of those who read the books to the screen in The Silver Chair. I am very much looking forward to diving once more into Narnia, this time with Mark Gordon and his team.
However it’s a long way from actually making it to the screen, as at the moment there’s no studio partner and it’s not clear where the financing would come from – or indeed if any of the earlier cast will be back.
