Melissa McCarthy broke out with Paul Feigs Bridesmaids and the actress and director recently reunited for The Heat. Now McCarthy is sticking with the director as TheWrap reports that shes in talks to take one of the lead roles in Feigs Susan Cooper.
The film is described as a James Bond-inspired spy comedy, but with a female lead. While Feig is known for broad comedy, Susan Cooper isnt a parody, but is instead said to be a gritty and realistic comedy, which is heavily influenced by Martin Campbells Casino Royale.
The film is said to centre on two lead characters, although theres no news on whether McCarthy is in talks to play the title character or if shell be the other lead.
Susan Cooper is being set up as a potential franchise, so this could work out well for the actress. The one thing standing in the way at the moment is her schedule, as shes soon due to go back into production on her sitcom, Mike & Molly. Hopefully shell be able to sort it out though.
