Kevin Costner’s career has had a bit of a resurgence recently, as after a few quiet years, he had success with Hatfields & McCoys, and scored roles in Man Of Steel, Jack Ryan and Three Days To Kill. Now he’s added another to the list, as Deadline reports that Costner will reunite with The Upside of Anger director Mike Binder for Black and White.
The actor is starring as a grandfather who lost his wife in a car accident, and then lost his daughter during the birth of his granddaughter. Since then, he has been raising his bi-racial grandaughter on his own. He becomes locked in a custody battle with the child’s paternal grandmother, where race becomes a hot-button issue.
Mike Binder is directing from his own original screenplay. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in New Orleans. Costner is currently shooting the sports movie, Draft Day.
