Disney’s spin-off from Cars – the aptly titled Planes – is due in cinemas this August. A new poster has been revealed, featuring Dane Cook’s cropduster Dusty Crophopper, and Carlos Alazraqui’s El Chupacabra. We’ve also been sent the news that Top Gun stars Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards with who reunite as the voices of fighter jets Bravo and Echo, respectively, as cameos in the movie.
The duo joins an all-star cast including Dane Cook, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, John Cleese and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Inspired by the world of Cars and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (King of the Hill, The Simpsons), Disneys Planes is about Dusty, a big hearted crop duster and his dream of competing as a high-flying air racer – and his decidedly unfortunate fear of heights.
Anthony Edwards commented,”When you think of movies with planes, Top Gun usually comes up, so it is fun to be part of this film as an old trusted hand who will help protect our hero. Our naval aviators are some of the best pilots in the world. Val and I are lucky enough to get to play them twice!”
