Kick-ass team Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar have been planning to get back together for The Secret Service since 2011, but it’s only now that it’s really moving forward, with the news that 20th Century Fox has closed a deal to distribute the movie, with an August shoot planned, according to Deadline.
The film is based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ comic book, which follows a veteran Secret Service agent who is tasked with training his young nephew while trying to solve a case involving missing sci-fi stars, the murder of every single person in a small town, and a dark secret involving Mount Everest.
Matthew Vaughn wrote the adapted screenplay with Jane Goldman. Fox is putting the project on the fast track, in hopes of getting production started this August.
It also shows that Fox must like being in the Vaughn business, as you might have expected them to be frustrated with his when he dropped out of directing X-Men: Days of Future Past fairly late in development. However they kept him on as a producer and are now backing The Secret Service.
