First it was called 1952 and then when George Clooney came onboard a couple of months ago, it changed its name to Tomorrowland, but director Brad Bird and writer Damon Lindelof have been keeping their cards close to their chest about the plot of their upcoming sci-fi project.
However now Hitfix seems to have found a few brief details about the story of the movie. They says the logline is, ‘A teenage girl, a genius middle-aged man (who was kicked out of Tomorrowland) and a pre-pubescent girl robot attempt to get to and unravel what happened to Tomorrowland, which exists in an alternative dimension, in order to save Earth.’
Previous rumours have suggested it might have something to do with Disneyland’s Tomorrowland or that 1952 refers to sighting of UFOs over Washington DC, which led to conspiracy theories that there had been high level meetings between the US government and aliens. Although there’s still a chance these things will still be tied in somehow, it’s not going to be as straightforward as earlier rumours suggested.
It’s certainly an intriguing logline, even if it raises as many questions as it answers. Hugh Laurie is also attached to play the villain, with a release date of December 19th, 2014 already set.
