Aussie actor Jason Clarke has been slowly rising the ranks of Hollywood, and his recent role in Zero Dark Thirty has certainly impressed a lot of people. Now he could be getting closer the a-list, as THR says he’s signed up to join the Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
It isn’t known exactly who he’ll be playing, but it’s believed he’s taking on the main human role (James Franco isn’t likely to return, although may have a cameo). The film is apparently set 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes, concentrating on a group of scientists who are struggling to survive in San Francisco, while Caesar (Andy Serkis) tries to maintain control of his growing ape kingdom.
Matt Reeves (Let Me In) is directing from a screenplay by Mark Bomback. A spring shoot is planned, with a May 23rd, 2014 release already set.
