A couple of weeks ago Parks And Recreation star Chris Pratt signed up to play the lead role of Peter Quill in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy. Now we may have news of who’s going to play another of the major roles, as Latino Review reports Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian) is in talks to play Drax the Destroyer.
With pre-production already underway in London, Jason Momoa reportedly flew to the UK last Wednesday to screen test for the role, with Marvel offering him the part shortly thereafter. The actor beat out others such as Isaiah Mustafa, Dave Bautista, and Brian Patrick for the part.
Drax the Destroyer was born as the human Arthur Douglas, however his family was attacked and murdered by the villainous Thanos. Arthur’s spirit was then placed into a powerful new body by Kronos, which resulted in Drax the Destroyer’s creation. His powers include incredible strength and the ability to emit energy blasts from his hands.
James Gunn is directing the film from his own screenplay.
