A couple of weeks ago the first image from Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac debuted, but for a film that promises a lot of full-on sex, it wasn’t really that interesting, just showing a woman lying on the floor. Now a second image has shown up, via Artificial Eye’s Twitter, that’s a bit more intriguing, teasing a threesome between Charlotte Gainsbourg and two guys.
The film has already gained notoriety due to the promise of real sex and a cast including Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, and Stacy Martin.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film is a wild and poetic story of a womans erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winters evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi-faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.’
Von Trier has said he’s making two versions, with a hardcore version for more lenient territories, and a softer edition for those areas that are a bit more shy about sex. The presumption is that it will debut at Cannes, even though the festival banned Von Trier for life a couple of years ago.
