Back in 2011 Anthony Hopkins signed on to star in The Solace when the movie was set up at New Line. Since then the studio has cut it loose, but it’s lived on as an independent project with Hopkins still attached to star. Now he’s got some company, as Deadline reports that Colin Farrell is close to a deal to star in the crime thriller.
Afonso Poyart (Two Rabbits) is set to direct the movie, which is about an FBI agent who seeks out a doctor (Anthony Hopkins) with psychic powers to help solve a string of grisly murders. Colin Farrell will portray the serial killer who goes toe-to-toe with the good doctor. The FBI agent hasn’t been cast yet.
Sean Bailey, Ted Griffin, James Vanderbilt, and Peter Morgan wrote the screenplay. The current plan is to starts shooting in May, assuming FilmNation can make enough distribution sales at the Berlin Film Festival.
