For several years Sam Raimi was attached to direct a World Of Warcraft movie, but for a long time after he went off to make Oz The Great And Wonderful there was little movement on the project. Indeed many had assumed the whole idea had been canned, but then last August Charles Leavitt (The Seventh Son) was hired to take a new crack at the script.
Now Legendary Entertainment is finally moving forward with the game-to-film adaptation, bringing Moon and Source Code helmer Duncan Jones on board to direct. The $100 million plus project certainly a far bigger project than anything he’s taken on before.
There are no specific details on the plot of the film, but Legendary seem to like the script they have and are confident enough in it that they’re hoping to start production this fall for a 2015 release. Presumably the movie will take us into the world created by Blizzard Entertainment, which is filled with fantasy creatures taking on missions in order to rid the lands of evil creatures. (Source: THR)
