Jackie Earle Haley Joins Parkland – James Badge Dale & Colin Hanks also up for JFK flick

26th January 2013 By Tim Isaac

An impressive cast is lining up for the ensemble drama Parkland, likely attracted to being part of something that will help commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK this November. Shooting on the movie has just started, and it’s been announced that the likes of James Badge Dale, Jackie Earle Haley, Colin Hanks, David Harbour, and Ron Livingston have all joined the cast.

They’ll star alongside the previously announced Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, Jacki Weaver, Marcia Gay Harden, Zac Efron, and Jeremy Strong.

The film is about the chaotic events that occurred at Parkland Hospital in Dallas on the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, November 22nd 1963. Part thriller, part real-time drama, Parkland the story of unexceptional people fighting for survival and reaching for heroism in an exceptional time.

Parkland certainly has a place in American history, as it’s also where both JFK’s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, and Oswald’s killer, Jack Ruby, died.

Award-winning journalist and novelist Peter Landesman makes his directorial debut with the movie, working from his own screenplay, which is based on the book, Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, by Vincent Bugliosi. The hope is to release the movie in time for the 50th anniversary.
