Director Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter wasn’t quite the money-spinner some had hoped, but it wasn’t dreadful, and now he’s looking to the future, as THR reports that the Russian helmer has signed on to make Heatseekers for Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes.
News of the movie first surfaced back in April 2010, when Platinum Dunes acquired the spec screenplay by George Mahaffey. F. Scott Frazier has now signed on to rewrite the script. The plot is about an ex-military pilot who takes to the skies to do battle with a group of aerial renegades. Previous reports suggest the hero has to infiltrate the group and bring them down from inside – so sort of The Fast And The Furious or Point Break, but with airplanes.
Michael Bay will produce with his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller. Chris Morgan, best known as the screenwriter behind Wanted and Fast Five, is also producing. It isn’t known when the movie might shoot.
