Kid Cudi & More Join Need For Speed – Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek & Harrison Gilbertson too

15th January 2013 By Tim Isaac

Dreamworks Need For Speed is gearing up, with Aaron Paul and Dominic West set for the male leads and Imogen Poots taking on the main female role. Now director Scott Waugh is busy filling out the rest of the cast, with Deadline reporting that Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek and Harrison Gilbertson signing up.

The movie is about an underground race car driver (Aaron Paul) who owns a shop that modifies sports cars for racing. He is framed for the murder of his best friend, who died during a race, and upon his release from prison he seeks revenge. Dominic Cooper will play a former NASCAR driver who now owns a high-end shop that rebuilds race cars, while Poots is an exotic car dealer who works with both Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper’s characters.

The Deadline report says Mescudi plays the Aaron Paul’s best friend, although it gives no details on who Ramon Rodriguez, Rami Malek and Harrison Gilbertson will be.

Kid Cudi is best known for his music, and has contributed to the soundtracks for DreamWorks’ Fright Night and The Hunger Games. He’s also acted in HBO’s How To Make It In America and the indie Two Night Stand.

A US release on February 7th 2014 is already set.
