Trance has had a slightly unusual production process, as it was shot during late 2011, but then director Danny Boyle had to go off and put together the Olympics Opening Ceremony, and so the editing and other post production was put on hold until the summer festivities were over.
Now he’s had a chance to start putting it together and the first photos from the film have been released via USA Today. The new movie is about an art heist gone wrong, and will mark his return to the ‘dark, sexy, hard-edged tone’ seen in such earlier work as Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.
James McAvoy plays an auction house assistant who masterminds an art heist and teams up with a gang of thieves, but suffers a blow to the head and wakes up with amnesia. He is the only one who knows where the stolen painting is and after his continued failure to remember, the gang begins to suspect duplicity on his part and hire a female hypnotist (Rosario Dawson) to get into his brain.
The film is due out March 27th 2013.
