One thing you don’t expect in a Superman movie is for the hero to get handcuffed – after all, what would be the point, it’s not like they could hold him? – but that’s what’s happening in a new poster for Man Of Steel. There’s no info on exactly how this fits into the plot, but with a darker tone promised, presumably at some point Clark Kent is seen as persona non grata and has some legal issues.
Whether this is a result of him being seen as a vigilante (Batman-style) or a result of the appearance of General Zod, isn’t clear.
While the pic is a little blurry, it is official as it arrived over on the film’s Facebook page.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyones imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman, not only to shine as the worlds last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.’ The movie is out June 2013.
