It’s several months since JJ Abrams signed up to produce God Particle, but now things have moved forward with Variety reporting that filmmaker Julius Onah has been set to direct the movie for Paramount Insurge, based on Oren Uziel’s (The Kitchen Sink) screenplay.
The film is about a team of American astronauts onboard a space station who are left stranded when the Earth vanishes into thin air following an accident involving a Hadron particle accelerator. While they try to work out what the hell to do, they discover a European spacecraft on their radar.
The project will mark the first major movie for Julius Onah, who’s created a bit of buzz for his short films such as Big Man and The Girl Is In Trouble. J.J. Abrams will produce through his Bad Robot Productions company. The project will be shot on a budget between $5 million and $10 million. It’s not clear when it might shoot.
