Jane Goldman used to be best known as Jonathan Ross’ wife, but thanks to Stardust, Kick-Ass, The Debt, X-Men: First Class and The Woman In Black she’s now one of the hottest screenwriters in Hollywood. THR reports that she’s now in talks to write the screenplay for Pinocchio, which has Robert Downey Jr. attached to star and Tim Burton set to direct.
The first news on the project arrived back in January, when Downey Jr. and Burton signed on. At that time Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) was on scripting duties, but they now want Goldman to take over. This version of the classic tale will feature Robert Downey Jr. as Geppetto, who creates the wooden puppet Pinocchio. When his creation goes missing, Geppetto goes on a journey to find the marionette.
It isn’t known when production may begin.
