Aaron Sorkin is one of the few writers in Hollywood who can currently write a screenplay that seems unusual and risky and still get it made, thanks to the success of The Social Network and Moneyball, as well as his TV show, The Newsroom. He certainly seems to be doing that with his planned biopic of Steve Jobs, which he’s suggested will consist of just three scenes.
Now he’s been talking about the movie at the Daily Beast Hero Conference, with that site then tweeting, ‘Aaron Sorkin: Each of the 3 :30 min scenes in Steve Jobs movie will take place backstage before a product launch. Thats the movie.’
Each on these scenes will be the about the moment Jobs announced major products – the Mac, NeXT, and the original iPod. Despite the idea of just three scenes not initially sounding that exciting, Steve Jobs was known to be a whirlwind force before a product launch, which promises a film that is intense and edge-of-the-seat thrilling, especially as Sorkin has a gift for this sort of thing.
Of course, things may change, as it could be that while the basic structure is three keynote speeches, there’ll be flashbacks to other time showing us more of Jobs’ story. Either way, it’s very intriguing.
