Each of the Lord Of The Rings movies included an end credits song, and it seems Peter Jackson plans to continue that with The Hobbit, as Rolling Stone has debuted Neil Finn’s track Song of the Lonely Mountain, which will play over the end credits of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey when its released next months.
Unfortunately we can’t embed the song here, but you can have a listen by clicking here.
Finn, who’s best known as a member of New Zealand band Crowded House commented, “The Song of the Lonely Mountain was developed from a dark and mysterious theme which the dwarves sing early in the movie. After some days of mining underground (actually, in Peters office) I emerged with the song, then set about recording it with my sons Elroy and Liam. Dave Fridmann came in at the end with a bold mix. He seemed to respond well to my demands for more anvil! Pop music needs more anvil!”
It’s certainly not a bad song, with a bit of a folk music feel about it.
