Thanks to his work on the Fast & Furious franchise, Justin Lin is one of the hottest properties in Hollywood. While he’s stuck to the car movies for the past few years, he’s now casting his net wider, and THR reports he has signed on to direct Hibernation.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Will Frank wrote the screenplay for this futuristic sci-fi thriller, but unfortunately no plot details have been released for the movie.
This is the second genre project Justin Lin has attached himself to this week, as last Tuesday it was revealed that the filmmaker is directing the sci-fi comedy Subdivision for Universal Pictures. There’s a decent chance Hibernation will end up at Universal too, as Lin has a deal at the studio and they’re very keen on keeping him happy.
Lin also has L.A. Riots, Chinglish and Lone Wolf and Cub in development, although with a ridiculously busy slate, he has stepped away from a remake of Highlander and a fifth Terminator movie. He’s currently shooting Fast & Furious 6, although it isn’t known what will come after that.
