Although V/H/S got a mixed reception when it was released earlier this year, the idea of a horror anthology tied together with a bigger story obviously excited a lot of directors, as THR reports that the likes of Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption) and Eduardo Sánchez (The Blair Witch Project) are two of seven directors who are making V/H/S/2.
Also involved with the movie are Jason Eisener (Hobo with a Shotgun), Timo Tjahjanto (The ABCs of Death), Gregg Hale, Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die), and screenwriter Simon Barrett, who makes his directorial debut. Gareth Evans will co-direct his segment with Timo Tjahjanto, while Eduardo Sánchez will team up with his producing partner Gregg Hale on their segment.
The original V/H/S follows a group of students tasked with finding a VHS tape inside a house, only to discover hundreds of tapes inside. The sequel follows a similar conceit, with a pair of investigators who find a tape while searching for a missing student. Adam Wingard will direct the overall story, with the other filmmakers directing the individual segments found on the tapes.
Production is already underway in Los Angeles, Maryland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and Indonesia. It will be released next year.
