Django Unchained and Inglourious Basterds star Christoph Waltz is looking for something a bit lighter to his usual fare, as he has entered negotiations to star in The Muppets 2 for Disney and director James Bobin, according to THR.
The actor will apparently play an Interpol agent in the sequel, which will be see Kermit and his cohorts heading to Europe. Waltz’s role is apparently one of the few key human parts, aside from a slew of cameos. Other non-Muppet roles include a Russian femme fatale and the male lead, whose intentions are always questionable. The Muppets star Jason Segel will not be returning for the follow-up. However other than that, there’s not too much info on the plot. That said, it’s previously been said the movie is a homage to 1981’s The Great Muppet Caper.
James Bobin will direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Nick Stoller.
