Eli Roth hasn’t directed a movie since 2007’s Hostel: Part II (he’s produced quite a few films though), but now it’s been announced that principal photography is set to begin November 5th in Peru on his new movie, The Green Inferno.
The horror thriller’s cast has also been announced, which includes Lorenza Izzo (Aftershock), Ariel Levy (Aftershock), Aaron Burns, Daryl Sabara (John Carter, Machete), Kirby Bliss Blanton (Project X), Magda Apanowicz and actress/singer Sky Ferreria. Roth is directing based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Aftershock co-writer, Guillermo Amoedo.
Filming will take place over the next few weeks in Peru before moving to Santiago, Chile. The movie follows a naive group of student activists who head from New York to stage a protest in the jungles of Peru, trying to tackles the evils of deforestation. Sadly for them, they dont encounter pissed off loggers as much as they fall foul of cannibals (which sounds oddly like the episode of South Park where Kenny and co. go to the rainforest).
