Jake Gyllenhaal scored a surprise over the week when his LAPD. cop drama End of Watch topped the US box office charts. Now he’s thinking about the future, as Variety reports that Jake is in talks to star in Prisoners, where he’ll stick to playing a cop.
Hugh Jackman is already set for the lead role as a carpenter and father in a small town, whose world is rocked when his young daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. When the local police fail to find his little girl, the man goes out to search for her himself. Jake Gyllenhaal will play a detective from the big city who takes over the case and tangles with the troubled dad. Melissa Leo also stars in an unspecified role.
Denis Villeneuve, who worked with Jake on the upcoming An Enemy, is directing from a screenplay by Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband). Shooting should being in early 2013.
