Waterman Entertainment is developing a feature film concept based on the iconic family television series, Mister Ed, which was all about a talking horse. As is the way of the world at the moment, the film will be a live action/CGI mix.
Waterman is the same company that recently announced the acquisition of rights for The Brave Little Toaster, a project that Disney released as a fully animated feature in 1987. Like Mister Ed, the company is reimagining as a CGI/live action property and give it a contemporary storyline, while preserving the original essence of the characters and moral lessons behind the story.
Mister Ed ran on US TV from 1958 to 1966, and starred Alan Young and Wilbur Post, who owned a horse called Mister Ed. The equine somehow had the ability to talk. but would only speak to Wilbur. Episodes normally featured Mister Ed causing some kind of mischief, leaving his klutzy owner to try and fix things.
